However, the Indonesian version of these pastries are divided into 2 major categories ; Kue Kering is mostly pastry that have crunchy and dry texture, and Kue Basah is mostly pastry that have soft and moist texture.

Kue Kering is just your usual pastry that you might find in festivals, certain religious or culture celebration like christmas, halloween, thanksgiving etc. This pastry usually made by baking them.

Kue Basah, is all kind of pastries that have been made without being baked. Usually with steaming, or other non-baking cooking method.
